Why China Camp May Be the MostInspiring Ride You’ll Take ThisSummer

Join MTB Girls Ride Club for a one-of-a-kind adventure where
mountain biking, history, community, and personal growth come
together along the shores of San Pablo Bay.

Nestled along the sparkling shoreline of San Pablo Bay, China Camp State Park is
one of Marin County’s most treasured landscapes. With miles of flowing singletrack,
panoramic water views, rolling hills, and a rich cultural history dating back more
than a century, it offers far more than an ordinary day on the bike. It is a place where
riders come to challenge themselves, connect with others, and experience the kind
of adventure that stays with them long after the ride is over.

This summer, MTB Girls Ride Club invites riders of all backgrounds and experience
levels to discover China Camp through a unique co-ed clinic designed to build
confidence, improve skills, and foster meaningful connections. Whether you are
visiting the park for the very first time or have ridden the China Camp Loop
countless times, this experience offers a fresh perspective on one of Northern
California’s most iconic riding destinations.

A Ride Through California History

Long before mountain bikes rolled across these hills, China Camp was home to one
of the largest Chinese shrimp-fishing villages in the United States. During the Gold
Rush era, Chinese immigrants established a thriving community along the shores of
San Pablo Bay, creating a way of life that helped shape California’s history.

Today, the historic village remains an important reminder of the resilience,
determination, and contributions of those early settlers. Thanks to the efforts of the
Friends of China Camp and dedicated community volunteers, this remarkable place
continues to be preserved for future generations. As riders make their way along the
trails, they are not only exploring beautiful terrain but also traveling through a
landscape that carries an important story of perseverance and cultural heritage.

Surrounded by Water, Sunlight, and Endless Views

One of the most remarkable features of China Camp is its setting. Unlike many trail
systems tucked deep into the mountains, China Camp is embraced by the waters of
San Pablo Bay, creating breathtaking views throughout the ride. The trail winds
through oak woodlands and open hillsides while the bay shimmers below, providing
a constant reminder of the natural beauty that makes this corner of Marin County so
special.

Along the shoreline, families gather to swim, kayak, paddleboard, picnic, and enjoy
the sunshine. Sailboats glide across the water while seabirds drift overhead. The
atmosphere is both energetic and peaceful, offering the perfect backdrop for a day
spent outdoors.

Following the clinic, participants are encouraged to continue enjoying everything
China Camp has to offer. Many riders choose to cool off with a swim in the bay,
explore the historic village, or gather with friends to enjoy a cold beer and a meal
while sharing stories from the day’s adventure.

Building Stronger Riders by Building Stronger
People

At its core, this clinic is about much more than improving technical mountain bike
skills. While riders will work on climbing, descending, cornering, body position, and
trail awareness, the deeper goal is to help participants develop the confidence and
mindset that make mountain biking such a powerful tool for personal growth.

Every challenge on the trail presents an opportunity to learn something about
ourselves. Navigating a difficult section teaches trust. Climbing a steep hill develops
perseverance. Learning a new skill builds confidence that often extends far beyond
mountain biking and into everyday life.

Many riders discover that the lessons learned on the bike begin to influence their
relationships, careers, health, and sense of self. Likewise, the resilience, wisdom, and
life experiences we bring to the trail often help us become better riders. Growth
flows in both directions, creating a powerful connection between who we are on the
bike and who we become off it.

A Community Where Everyone Learns Together

Although MTB Girls Ride Club was founded to empower women through mountain
biking, one of the most meaningful discoveries has been the value of creating
spaces where everyone can learn from one another.

Our co-ed clinics are intentionally designed to foster collaboration rather than
competition. Women learn from women. Men learn from women. Women learn
from men. Everyone brings unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences that
enrich the group as a whole.

The result is a welcoming environment where beginners feel supported,
experienced riders feel valued, and meaningful friendships develop naturally. It is a
culture built on encouragement, curiosity, and respect, where riders are free to ask
questions, try new skills, and celebrate each other’s progress.

Why This Ride Is Different

There are plenty of mountain bike clinics that teach skills, there are group rides that
offer scenery, there are events that bring people together.

What makes the China Camp experience unique is the way it combines all of these
elements into a single unforgettable day. Riders will experience world-class trails,
stunning views of San Pablo Bay, fascinating California history, practical skills
coaching, and the support of a community that genuinely wants to see every
participant succeed.

By the end of the day, you’ll have explored one of Marin County’s most beautiful
landscapes, gained confidence on the bike, connected with new friends, and
discovered why China Camp continues to capture the hearts of riders from across
Northern California.

If you’re looking for more than just another ride, you’re looking for adventure,
growth, connection, and inspiration, we hope you’ll join us for this extraordinary
experience at China Camp State Park.
